Dorky December.

I've decided to give away a free printable calendar each month for 2010...but it's only December 2009 you say? I guess couldn't resist the urge to sketch cute, dorky Santas....plus this is my favorite color palette. It was my original intention to make a calendar of illustrations to sell in my Etsy Store. But it's my general feeling lately that there should be more cute, fun, FREE things in the world, and what's better than a cute, fun, FREE calendar? ( probably lots, but shh..) Anyways, download the pdf for December here, it'll print to a regular 8.5x11 size page. Tack it on your cork board, or hang it with a pretty clip. Stay tuned for January's giveaway. Cheers!

Sweet Label Design...

Here is a fun project I just finished - a record label - for my DJ friend I met in Ireland, Oliver (as always, click on the image if you wish to see it bigger). While I no longer serve his daily latte fix, we still keep in touch though: him pimping his re-edits and spinning tunes around town, while I live vicariously through him the carefree, fun filled life that is typical of Galway.....If you like vintage jazz, soul, and funk, check out his myspace page here. Cheers!

My pretties...

Some lovely cozys made by my lovely childhood friend Victoria. I saw the apple one in her Etsy shop lolitasluggage and was in love! It's perfect for when you throw an apple into your purse, it doesn't get all bruised. Which got me to thinking...apples aren't so much of a problem, but what about bananas? There is something so disheartening about a bruised banana. I have a plastic banana guard but it's too big! Makes the smaller to medium sized bananas feel bad. So I requested a custom crocheted banana cozy................wait for it.....................

Voila! A genuine crocheted banana 'SHEATH' as Viki calls it, complete with crocheted bruises! One size fits all. Love it. She has many other beautiful handmade goodies in her shop, I'm also a big fan of these Newborn Earth Girl Shoe-sies , so cute!!

Wish list.

In an attempt to be a less flaky blogger, here we go, an art-less, nonsensical post just for the sake of writing something. On the contrary I have been working really hard on things, it's just under wraps for now, that's all. I've fallen back into an old routine - showing up for my 'day' job like a space cadet because all I think about all day is my own work that I want to do when I get home....And then working like a madwoman on said projects every spare minute that I am not at my other job. It is kind of exhausting, but it works well for me! I've finally pulled all my art and crafting stuff out of storage and set up a little work space, but it is a bit of trial and error with these projects, as I keep running out of things (it's not like there are any stores nearby).I also find myself wishing I had different materials to work with. Which led me to this wish list:

Gocco print maker....been lusting after one of these for YEARS.

An older typewriter...

A life supply of bobby pins...not art related, but important nonetheless. Seriously, where do they GO?

A silent, efficient office/art assistant. Must bring me coffee and be able to read my mind. May turn into a live-in position, paid in hugs and baked goods. Know of anyone?

Now, don't get me wrong, I know I don't NEED any of those things to function, I just want them. And really, why stop there...a large format printer, a proper studio, a house and a more fuel efficient car....I was just thinking of the book The Secret and how it says in order for things to manifest you have to first simply ask for them. I am pretty content with what I have, but just in the off chance that a reader out there would like to send me a typewriter through the mail...just throwing it out there is all I'm saying. Probably not. Okay universe, do your thing. SHAZAM.
